HISTORY GROWING WITH MUSIC introduced itself to twin city area child care centers as "Music at New Horizons" in October, 1983. With music therapists as the Instructors, the program expanded throughout that chain of centers, and in 1984, began program expansion to other metro area child care centers as Growing With Music. At that time, additional music therapists were hired as independent contractors to conduct the early childhood music classes based on the principles of music therapy and a newly designed Growing With Music curriculum. The next two years allowed for a controlled growth of the company and an embellishment of the curriculum, business structure, and marketing plan. Between 1987 and 1990, Growing With Music classes increased its services to over 100 area child care centers, and had introduced studio locations to allow participation in the program by children who did not attend a day care center. An assessment of company performance followed and in 1993, Growing With Music became a Corporation. In July, 1994, Minnesota Parent Magazine selected Growing With Music as Editor’s Choice for Superior Services. Today, Growing With Music is offered in over 160 child care centers in the Twin Cities metro area and greater Minnesota, and operates 6 studio locations.
